Locking REBELS is the intended route to a share of trading fees, paid in SOL, and to entry in the monthly Rebel raffle. This page explains how it is designed to work, where the tokens actually sit while locked, and what that custody means for you before you send anything.
Not live yet
Locking is not open. There is no watcher confirming deposits, no fee share has been paid, and no draw has been held. No escrow address exists for any band yet — anything claiming to be a Rebels lock escrow right now is not ours. Everything on this page describes the mechanism as designed and as it will run. Where a figure cannot be read — an address, a reconciliation, an open lock — this page shows -- or says so in words, rather than a blank or a zero.
Locked REBELS is held in Council multi-signature wallets. This is a custodial design, chosen knowingly rather than by accident. When you lock, you are trusting the Council to give the tokens back at maturity. No program, no smart contract and no on-chain rule compels that return — it depends on the Council acting on the record it has published.
What the design can do is make misbehaviour visible rather than asking you to take it on faith. Each escrow’s on-chain balance is checked against the sum of every open lock recorded against it, published live beside the address below. If tokens are ever moved out of an escrow without a matching record, the shortfall shows up against that one band, publicly, without anyone having to trust an announcement.
That check has a real limit, and the limit is not softened here. It catches tokens being removed from an escrow. It does not catch the Council refusing to return a lock that has matured — a withheld lock simply stays open, and the balance still reconciles, because the tokens never left. The only mitigation for that case is weaker: every lock records a maturity date, and the open-locks list below makes an overdue, unreturned lock publicly countable. It is not as strong as the balance check, and it should not be read as if it were.
If you are not willing to let a Council multi-signature wallet hold your tokens on that basis, do not lock. That is the honest trade on offer, not a smaller version of it.
Warning: exchange deposits are very likely lost
If you send REBELS to a lock escrow from a Binance, Coinbase or other exchange hot wallet, you will very likely lose it. Returning locked tokens means sending them back to the address the deposit came from — and an exchange does not credit deposits that arrive unannounced from an address it does not recognise as yours.
Nothing on-chain distinguishes an exchange address from a personal wallet. The escrow cannot tell the difference and cannot refuse the deposit on that basis.
This is your risk to manage, not ours to fix afterward. The Council cannot repair a deposit sent from an exchange once it has been made. Only send REBELS to a lock escrow from a wallet where you hold the keys yourself.
The address a holder sends to is their term — there is no date or duration to enter and nothing to misread. Each band publishes its on-chain balance and, beside it, the reconciliation against every open lock the ledger has recorded for that address.

Every confirmed lock appears here with its band, maturity date and return status, whether or not it has been returned yet. An overdue lock with no matching return is the public record of exactly the failure mode the balance check in §1 cannot see.
No locks recorded
Nothing has been locked so far — the escrows are not published and there is no watcher confirming deposits yet. Once locking is live, every open lock appears here as owner, band, amount, maturity date and return status.
35% of every fee the treasury claims is paid to holders who have locked REBELS, in SOL, in proportion to how much each holder has locked. This is pro-rata on balance alone — it is not weighted by which band a lock sits in. The remaining 65% funds buying Rebels back on the open market.
A larger locked balance earns a proportionally larger SOL share regardless of term, because the cash share is a return on capital committed. What the term changes is your weight in the raffle below, not your share of the SOL.
Separately from the SOL share, locked positions are weighted for the monthly Rebel raffle by how much is locked and which escrow it sits in:
weight = floor(wholeTokens / 100,000) × band multiplier LOCK_30 (30 days) → ×1 LOCK_90 (90 days) → ×2 LOCK_180 (180 days) → ×3
Weight is earned the moment a lock is confirmed, not after the term has elapsed — a deposit into LOCK_180 the day before a draw gets its full ×3 weight immediately, and in exchange the tokens cannot be withdrawn for 180 days. The commitment is real at the moment it is made, so the weight is real then too.
Each deposit is its own lock with its own maturity date; sending twice to the same escrow creates two locks, not one larger one. A deposit below 100,000 whole REBELS floors to zero weight and is not proposed as a lock at all — it stays returnable, but it can never win anything.
Rebels are raffled rather than paid pro-rata because a Rebel cannot be split: 60% of every Rebel the treasury reclaims is drawn among locked positions, weighted as above, using a public randomness beacon (drand) so nobody — including the Council — can know a result before it exists. More on how the draw itself works, and how to verify one, is on /docs.
After a lock matures, its holder requests a return and the Council sends the tokens back and records it against that lock. A request made before maturity is refused, and the refusal itself is recorded — so a disputed early request carries a timestamp rather than resting on anyone’s memory of what was said.
Minimum term: 30 days, which is the LOCK_30 band. There is no way to withdraw early at any band, including LOCK_30, once a deposit is confirmed.
REBELS is a funding mechanism for an art project, not an investment, and locking it gives you no ownership of the vault and no entitlement to any specific Rebel — only the chances and shares described above. The custody terms on this page are recorded formally in /terms, and the wider risks of the token itself are on /token.
